What are the Properties and Application Conditions of Antioxidants?

The antioxidant is added to the resin in order to prevent the resin from being affected by oxygen in the air (oxidative degradation) after processing high temperature plasticization or molding products, so that the strength, appearance and performance of plastic products change, thereby shortening the service life of plastic products.

Common antioxidant properties and uses are as follows.

① tetris [β- (3, 5-di-tert-butyl-4 hydroxyphenyl) propionic acid] pentaerythritol ester is also known as antioxidant 1010. White liquid powder, melting point 120 ~ 125℃, low toxicity. It is a good antioxidant. Polypropylene resin is used more, is a kind of high thermal stability, very suitable for use under high temperature conditions, can extend the service life of products, in addition, can also be used in most other resins. The general dosage is not more than 0.5%.

② β- (3, 5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl) octadecyl propionate is also known as antioxidant 1076. White or yellowish crystalline powder, melting point 50 ~ 55℃, non-toxic, insoluble in water, soluble in benzene, acetone, ethane and esters and other solvents. It can be used as an antioxidant of polyethylene, polypropylene, polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride, polyamide, ABS and acrylic resin. It has the characteristics of good oxygen resistance, low volatility and washing resistance. The general dosage is not more than 0.5%. Can be used as food packaging materials molding additives.

③ 1, 1, 3-tri (2-methyl-4-hydroxy-5-tert-butylphenyl) butane is also known as the antioxidant CA. White crystalline powder, melting point 180 ~ 188℃, low toxicity, soluble in acetone, ethanol, toluene and ethyl acetate. Suitable for polypropylene, polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride, ABS and polyamide resins antioxidant, and can be used in contact with copper wire, cable. Generally, the dosage does not exceed 0.5%.

④ 2, 6-di-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol, also known as antioxidant 246. White or light yellow crystalline powder or flake, melting point at about 70 ° C, boiling point at about 260 ° C, non-toxic. Used in a variety of resins, insoluble in water, can better inhibit oxidation, thermal decomposition and the influence of copper, so it is widely used. More suitable for food packaging molding materials (polyvinyl chloride, polypropylene, polyethylene, polyester, polystyrene and ABS) resin. The general dosage is 0.01% ~ 0.05%.

⑤ N, n-di-β-phenyl-p-phenylenediamine is also known as antioxidant DNP. Light gray powder, melting point about 230℃, easily soluble in aniline and nitrobenzene, insoluble in water. Suitable for polyethylene, polypropylene, impact resistant polystyrene and ABS resin, in addition to antioxidant performance, but also good thermal stability and inhibition of copper, manganese metal influence. Generally, the dosage does not exceed 2%.

⑥ Dilauryl thiodipropionate, also known as antioxidant DLTP. White crystalline powder, melting point at about 40℃, low toxicity, insoluble in water, soluble in benzene, carbon tetroxide, acetone. Used as an auxiliary antioxidant for polyethylene, polypropylene, ABS and polyvinyl chloride resins, it can improve the heat resistance and oxygen resistance of products. The general dosage is 0.05% ~ 1.5%.

⑦ Trnonyl benzene linate is also known as antioxidant TNP. Light yellow viscous liquid, freezing point below -5℃, boiling point greater than 105℃, odorless, non-toxic, insoluble in water, soluble in acetone, ethanol, benzene and carbon tetrachloride. Suitable for polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene, polypropylene, impact resistant polystyrene and ABS, polyester and other resins, high oxidation resistance at high temperature. The dosage should not exceed 1.5%.

⑧ Triphenyl phosphite is also known as the antioxidant TPP. Light yellow transparent liquid, freezing point 19 ~ 24℃, boiling point 220℃, soluble in alcohol, benzene, acetone. It is suitable for auxiliary antioxidant of polyvinyl chloride, polystyrene, polypropylene and ABS resins. The dosage should not exceed 3%.

⑨ 2-mercaptan benzimidazole is also known as antioxidant MB. Light yellow powder, melting point greater than 285℃, soluble in ethanol, acetone, ethyl acetate, insoluble in water and benzene. Antioxidant suitable for polyethylene, polyamide and polypropylene resins; The product does not pollute, does not stain, can be used for white or brilliant color products. The dosage should not exceed 0.5%.
